“Accept what is, let go of what was and have faith in what will be.”
Okay so I know George Michael isn’t always the best person to look towards when you need a bit of inspiration, but let’s face it, he definitely knew what he was talking about when he wrote the song “Faith”! I chose this topic for today’s post, because it’s become apparent to me that having a bit of belief and faith is the only way to achieve your goals. Which, I know sounds a bit cheesy but research shows that the people who are most successful in life are the ones who never doubted for a second that they would get to where they wanted to be; who never gave in to the niggling fears that they wouldn’t make it – they gave themselves wholeheartedly to fate.
This is definitely a week where a lot of faith is needed because I know the Leaving Cert. results are coming out (with college offers being released next week *cue frantic screams*) and I think some GCSE/ A-Level results are being given out around the same time too so this means there are a lot of stressed people out there at the moment! I for one was definitely experiencing the continuous cycle of “what ifs” and “buts” until someone kindly reminded me that worrying, no matter how skilled I was at it, was not going to change the end result – you can’t worry yourself out of a situation, but you can will yourself. Of course it’s alright to hope for something with all your might, but there comes a time when you have to believe that if it’s meant to happen, it will. You just have to accept that there are some things that are simply out of your control but that doesn’t mean you can’t follow (and enjoy) the path you’re being given at the same time, despite how it differs from your original plan.
You have to believe that if there’s something in your life which you truly desire – there is nothing going to stop you from getting it. You just have to have a little bit of faith in a higher power that it will all work out in the end and perhaps putting in some extra work won’t go a miss either. So I guess what I’m trying to say here is don’t let yourself get torn down with all the worries and anxieties in your life – whether that be exam stress, starting a job, emigrating etc, acknowledge that you can only do so much; you have to give up some control and accept that everything happens for a reason – you just have to put your faith into believing that this reason is a good one and somewhere down the line you’ll realise that.
On that note, I think I’ll end this post here before I start rambling! Best of luck to all those awaiting news and results – I have total faith in you all 😉 Let me know how get on!
