Dirty Dancing The Musical

Last night I was fortunate enough to attend “Dirty Dancing; The Musical” in the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in Dublin on their UK and Irish tour and all I can say is WOW! It had been on my list of must-see shows for a while and since I missed it last time it came around, I was determined to get tickets for this tour.

The energy in the show was just electric from start to finish and the choreography was phenomenal; every dance scene was simply perfection and there wasn’t a foot (or note) out of place! The cast of 21 leads, dancers and singers had the whole theatre singing along throughout the show and created an amazing atmosphere – also the fact the orchestra was visible above the stage rather than hidden in the pit really helped with this too! I was so surprised at how interactive the audience were during  the show – judging from the ‘ooh’s and wolf-whistles when Johnny Castle took off his shirt, it’s fair to say that everyone in the audience  was glued to the stage right until the end; well, the girls were at least! And what a fine audience it was, considering I couldn’t spot an empty seat in the entire auditorium.

From start to finish, this is a perfect go-to event for an ultimate girl’s night out  (or date night, if you’re brave enough!) with the ‘pink carpet’ laid outside the theatre doors and delicious drinks in the lobbies, it’s sure to put a smile on your face and make you feel extra special! And, if you’re still not convinced, you can even buy your own ‘Johny Teddys’ to take home with you for €15 from the merchandise stands… now, who could say no to that!

I would seriously recommend for you to go buy some tickets for this show, it’s staying in the BGET until July 26th so you’ve just over two weeks to get your Dirty Dancing fix – because NOBODY puts Baby in the corner! Tickets range from €45-€60 and can be purchased here.

In the meantime, why don’t you rewatch the classic and spread a bit of Swayze love!

Dirty Dancing is definitely one of my favourite ‘pick me up’ films to watch, what are some of yours? 🙂
